KINABALU NATIONAL PARK & MOUNT KINABALU

The Kinabalu National Park covers a staggeromg area pf 754 sq. km, established as a state park in 1954, this botanical paradise is blessed with an antonishing variety of flora and fauna that renages over 4 climate zones, from the rich lowland dipterocarp forett through the montane oak, rhododendron and coniferous forest to the pine meadow plants. It is Malaysia's first World Heritage disignated by UNESCO in December 2000 for its outstanding universal values and role as one of the world's most important biological sites. The focal point of the park. of course is the majestic Mount Kinabalu, this magnificent granite massif stands at 4095.2 m (13,435 ft) tall and it's South East Asia highest peak. Travellers descend upon Sabah to seek adventures of the ecological wonders as they ascend and conquer the breathtaking heights of Mount Kinabalu, while non-climber an indulge in the coolness and serene surrounding of this nature retreat.

DAY 01 SINGAPORE / KOTA KINABLU
Depart by scheduled flight for Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah, also known as ' The Land Below The Wind '. Upon arrival , meet by our representative
and transfer to the hotel of your choice.

DAY 02 CONQUER MOUNT KINABALU
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Kinabalu National Park, alight at the Park Headquaters, situated on the southern boundary at an elevation of 1563 m to register for your climb. Thereafter, transfer to Timpohon Gate (Power Station) located at 1866 m. above sea-level, which is the starting point of the Summit Trail. The 4 to 5 hours of guided trek will bring you through various vegetation zones, steep staircase, gnarled tree-roots to mossy world of drifiting clouds and orchid draped trees, where pitcher plants and rhododendrons abound. Located at 3272 m. above sea-level is Laban Rata Resthouse, where you will have your deserving night sleep (domitory style bunk beds). (B, P.L, D)

DAY 03 MOUNT KINABALU - KOTA KINABALU
At about 2 am in the morning, you will begin your final ascend to Low's Peak, 4095 m. above sea-level. Along the trail to the summit, climbers will be amazed with the incredible mountain backdrop ot teeth and fangs, gulley, precipice, cliff, plateau, gorge, peak, projectile and vegetation of stunted shrubs and tough grasses. As you wait in the cold at the summit, dawn gradually creeps over the horizon, illuminating the darkness with the light of the new day. In clear weather, you can almost see all of Sabah spread out below. Make your descend down to Laban Rata Resthouse for your breakfast and then final descend down to the Park Headquaters where you will be transfer to Kota Kinabalu hotel (same as your choice in Day 01) (B, L)

DAY 04 KOTA KINABLU / SINGAPORE
Bid farewell to Kota Kinabalu as you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Singapore. (B)

THING TO BRING FOR YOUR MOUNTAIN CLIMB
In mountainous region, the weather can change without warning, from bright sunshine to mist and cloud to torrential downpour. At night the temperatures can drop to below freezing, so bring warm extra clothing pack in plastic bag to keep it dry. Ensure that you bring with you the following items :- * Shoes with good grip * A change of wind and water-proof clothes * Insect repellent * Water bottle * High energy food such as chocolates, nuts, raisin or glucose sweets. * Headache tablets * Some plastic bags to keep your soil clothes/shoes * Paper tissues * Plasters * Extra thick socks and shoes *

Couple of leather hand gloves * A powerful torchlight * Waterproof hat * It is advisable that prior to the climb, physical training to build-up stamina is strongly recommended and some climber do experience altitude sickness, do check with your doctor for advice.
